Item # 741 – Adama's Ship Model
...this is the model he destroyed...
According to the podcast, he wasn't supposed to break it. Edward James Olmos just got caught up in the moment and did it unannounced. Apparently, it was a very expensive model on loan, and the prop guys were horrified. I guess they want to get some of their money back.

Totally geeking out over here. What does it mean when an item is labeled "hero version"?

Hero props are the highly detailed props that are usually on-camera and handled by key characters.

I'm guessing they're doing this to drum up interest for the second half of the final season, which begins airing in January. BG needs all the publicity it can get at this
Actually, I would think it would need publicity less than ever before, since it's going off the air...except that with at least one TV movie and a spinoff series coming, it's not. For a show that's been canceled, it's in pretty good health.

Item # 417 – FTL Key
A silver FTL key as first seen in the Miniseries. The key is inserted and turned to engage a battlestar's "faster than light" engines. Working condition

I hope the last half of the season ties up a lot of plot holes. The writers have really dug themselves in deep.

I'm guessing they're done filming.
BG needs all the publicity it can get at this point, as the show's quality has been on such a sad, sad, steady decline for the past two and a half seasons or so.
Opinions are like assholes, of course, and thank god over the internet we can't smell the dizzying welter of opinions we feel so compelled to share, but for what it's worth: nonsense.
Although, like BP says, I hope things can be tied up reasonably neatly without too much of the ol' deus ex.

For like a month, I thought BSG was over. I was walking around in a haze of "WTF?" I thought maybe they were making some kind of statement by not revealing the final model, even though it was promised. I thought the implication being that it could have been anyone.
I am glad to see I was just dumb,

When I saw that there were many, many of the prop costumes for auction I decided to guess what would be expected to fetch the highest price. I guessed Six's red dress. And, indeed, it is expected that either Six's red dress or Kara Thrace's flightsuit will fetch the most.
I guessed the red dress 'cause it's the one dudes would most likely, you know, do stuff with.
I suppose Kara Thrace's flightsuit could fit too.
Ewww.

That is interesting. I am going to look for that podcast. It does not look like much of a loss. A modestly built Third-rate, with not much attention paid to detail.
Someone should have explained to the prop guys that the correct way to display a model ship is in a glass case with a weighted bottom secured to a dedicated piece of furniture.
Thank goodness it was not a Prisoner-of-war model.
Also, the descriptions (or lack of) for many of the lots is awful. Basic information is not provided (e.g., a pre-sale estimate of $2000 - $3000 for #740 Bookshelf and they have not bothered to even list what type of wood. Very basic information. This is because “Plywood covered with 18 layers of varnish” might deter people from bidding).

Of course. And because my opinion isn't like yours, it's wrong.
Not at all. In fact, my point was precisely that because Internet Opinions are worthless, and because every single person has one and can't be restrained from trumpeting it, that mine, whether or not it agrees with yours, is just as worthless as any other.

I'm so sorry to have crossed you, and I'll cut myself with a sharp RAZOR (ha!) every time I start thinking that 2 out of every 3 episodes of BG were complete shit.
Thanks for for your valued contribution to the thread, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
BSG wasn't "cancelled" so much as "4 seasons is enough." I am very glad it is ending, it has been drawn out long enough as it is, it could indeed afford to lose about half of season 3 as well. Episodes like "Hero" I just delete and pretend don't exist, it's just better that way.

If you're a BSG fan I think you will appreciate this hilarious catch-up trailer that came out today. At 13 minutes it's not so much a teaser but more of a concentrated nugget of pure spoiler with density greater than that of a neutron star. (So, like, if there is any portion of the series you have not yet seen, and intend to do so in the future, don't watch this.)
