I so totally love this.
I can't imagine her greasepaint and prop budget, though

Interesting how many women artists make art out of themselves. Beginning with Cindy Sherman. The clever ones can justify themselves with theory, but it all boils down to narcissism. You'll generally have some success, because, let's face it, everyone, man and women, doesn't mind looking at a pretty girl (especially since most galleries offer precious little else to look at.) But in the end, it's laziness and an unwillingness to get out of bed.

I think men do it, too. It's called like a self-portrait or something. Oh yeah! There it is, right there, in the post: "Self-Portraits."

I liked it better the first time when it was an album cover for a Bjork album! (because these sort of remind me of bjork album covers)

They aren't merely self-portraits. Nearly every self-portrait set is a photograph of the artist as a bride, objectified and dehumanized (defeminized?) in different but very specific ways.

I don't really think that this is a case of a photographer trading on her physical appearance. Given that these self-portrait bride sets span years, using herself as the model is probably the simplest way to exclude the model's appearance from the central focus of the photo.

These are very interesting. Thanks!

Man, you're not even trying anymore.

I'm an artist and a high school art teacher, I was showing this work 2 days ago to my students. The girls loved it most of all. Although there were a bit confused by the self portraits with a giant comma on her face.
