You are interested in the unknown... the mysterious. The unexplainable. That is why you are here. And now, for the first time, we are bringing to you, the full story of what happened on that fateful day. We are bringing you all the evidence, based only on the secret testimony, of the miserable souls, who survived this terrifying ordeal. The incidents, the places. My friend, we cannot keep this a secret any longer. Let us punish the guilty. Let us reward the innocent. My friend, can your heart stand the shocking facts of a flickr collection of old snapshots?
whoa. some of those are going to stick with me for awhile, I think.

Nope. I thought of the first line of Criswell's speech when I was browsing these, and got carried away.

Ms. Pit's image will haunt me forever.
Gah! The actual cover of that album was scary enough.
Also, "Note to self — never let Lou Reed babysit again."

This is an outstanding collection.
I found a Flickr user that posted a number of old photos that have this same vibe. Here is one of my favorites.

This is awesome.
I wonder how many people have checked out this set to realize "HEY! That's MY MOM!" (Or dad, or Uncle Larry, or whoever.)

Fantastic! I love the randomness, the variety, the extraordinary ordinariness, the nostalgia, the slice of life portraits of a bygone era. A thousand (plus) pictures are definitely better than words.

And for those who like the Fifties and odd Americana, there's always the giant Lorain Easter Basket on Flickr.
