My life is average

I was never able to relate to FML, but I recently found a website that is much more accessible for the average person. It's decent, I guess. MLIA.
Today I made a post about MLIA and forgot to add the ubiquitous "Today" to the beginning. I made a comment to point out that I caught it before everyone else. MLIA.

Where FML makes me cringe (in horror, or in humor), MLIA sucks my soul. Thousands of voices crying out "I Am Here," once ignored, are now heard by a few more people. Yes, you are there, now do something.

Today I was propositioned for kinky fetish sex by a bus full of scantily-clad cheerleaders, got shanghaied by a group of pirates and pressed into service on a Spanish galleon, escaped, swam five hundred miles to shore, discovered a long-thought-extinct flightless bird, was nominated to the Supreme Court, and broke the world record for the long jump. Then I spilled coffee my lap. MLIA.

The fact that the "top" posts on FML and MLIA are ranked based on sheer volume of votes instead of the ratio between up and down votes really, really annoys me.

You know, you're the second person who said that fmylife.com had some sort of popups or malware problem. Here's a third person saying same. The site itself seems legit, but I have so much armor on my browser I wouldn't know for sure. Is it really a malware site? Does it have some bug that lets users inline malicious scripts without the admin's knowing? Does it just cause some dormant virus on your computer to go nuts, fucking your life?

I read the post, and my first thought on seeing "MLIA" was "my life in advance" and thought maybe it was some cool precognition site. Too bad.
As for the site itself, it reminds me of Jim's Journal. (Some of the collections on Amazon have the "Look inside" feature, for those of you unfamiliar with it.)

I actually read the FML whenever I am feeling down about myself. It immediately gives me a great sense of schadenfreud and I feel much better about myself and my own ego and self awareness. It makes me feel secure in knowing that I'm not a totally self immersed loser who thinks other people want to hear me bitching. This, in and of itself is a wonderful thing, and more people should try it.

dear Mfilter,
i started reading all the comments here once i realized that 'MLIA' didn't stand for 'My Life Is Ass.' i thought, "my mefeeze will have the funniest shit to s(l)ay about this bullshit MLIA! my mefeeze is the smartest!"
then i decided to visit MLIA and see what it's all about.
after getting the burrito out of my nose and off my arm where it deployed itself in my explosive laughter i realized that metafilter might have met it's match in stupid. unless you start reading the weird derails in the latest 'wtf?!? obama, him so cool' thread.
askmemoment: did i spell 'weird' right? my SO and i will be swimming in Burma next week and i need to get the spelling right on my CIA application form. they don't take bad spellers, but punctuation? they don't care.
