RIP Hugh Hopper.
A sampling of his work, and some audio samples from his record label.
You might also enjoy this introduction to the Canterbury Scene (loads of awesome vinyl cover art), an exhaustive Canterbury resource, as well as some streaming Canterbury radio.

I just discovered his music through a particularly great old Solid Steel show. RIP.

Ow. A sad end for a talented musician with a long, varied career.

Here's another discography for Hugh, including links to his other projects, but I think it's incomplete (as compared to the solo album list from Wikipedia).
And here's a link to "Vintage Solid Steel: ‘Now, Listen’ Tour Retrospective" tracklist, with Bonobo's mix that includes Hugh Hopper - The Lonley Sea and the Sky (on Compendium records).

R.I.P. Hugh. Canterbury music can be a blast, especially when it didn't take itself too seriously. I preferred Caravan and National Health over Soft Machine but I'll definitely be spinning "Third" this afternoon.
