Ed McMahon has passed away.
This post was deleted for the following reason: Really, at least a little bit more effort in an obit post, please. -- cortex

We should take a cue from newspapers and assign certain MeFites to certain celebrities to prepare obits in the case that someone dies, then have them go live once the news hits.

Death of a sidekick.

Great clip Chillmost. Ed wasn't the most talented guy in the world but he was a perfect straight man for Carson. And he was the inspiration for Hank Kingsley, which in my mind, made him an indispensable figure in television comedy

Did Johnny Carson die as well? I'm only seeing one article, and I can't tell if it might be one of those premade obits that got released accidentally.

Aw maaaaaan. The Publisher's Clearinghouse catalog was like porn for book nerd kids. The whole "you may already be a winner" thing was just icing on top of the already great prize: a love for reading.
