Gets a job, you dirty hippie!

"So, basically I put a pop/historical figure into a funny job for their personality or whatever." "gets a job" is an ongoing webcomic series that explores what would happen if JAWS gets a job at an office, Mario gets a job as a plumber, and more.
Some of these are pretty funny. Shame about the drawing, tho. Yeesh.

Yeah being able to draw or at least create a non-eyeball-rape image is sort of a prerequisite to having your own cartoon strip. Plus the JAWS strip is just dumb.

So let me get this straight, half of them involve characters getting jobs doing what was already their profession (billy mays "gets a job" as a pitch man), and the rest are offensive to women or minorities?

Is it a little obvious to point out that the creator of this strip should get a job in a non comic related field?

Gah. Great concept, total lack of things require for writing comics, namely skills of an artist (seriously, Homestar Runner looks like Michelangelo comparatively), and wit. I was thinking this would be great, but no. Just, no.
It's amazing how little people seem to understand irony, and what makes people laugh.

Ow. This hurts to look at, AND it isn't funny.
Did that dude from User Friendly finally get a new job or something?

You know, I bet this strip was created by those creepy New Media kids who always sit on the couches in the student union wearing cat ears, watching anime, looking at furry porn, and listening to J-Pop on each others' Macbooks. It's got that unique mixture of graphical slickness, lack of artistic talent, and jokes that just aren't funny that only the anime kids could pull off.

I think that's the joke. It's like some kind of postmodern Andy Kaufman thing.
Look I am drawing and I don't know what I am doing!

So "Jaws" is the name of the shark? Is "Nightmare on Elm Street" Freddie's real name? The shark's name is Bruce. Duh.

I read that as "Marlo gets a job as a plumber" and thought, whoa, so he kills people, and boards them up in their bathrooms? Then I saw it was Mario...

Wuwei, wouldn't it be that Marlo is a plumbing contractor? He has Chris and Snoop kill people, fix their sinks, and board the bodies up in the bathroom.

The creator is clearly unsuited to cartooning, so at least there's a nice self-referential quality to it.

Remember the old days, when evil corporate syndicates squelched every creative impulse of comic artists, shattered the dreams of thousands of potential artists, and cranked out newspaper after newspaper full of politically correct, personality-free, non-edgy comics featuring talking dogs and cute children?
Sometimes I miss those days.
I shall clean out my head with Dinosaur comics.

This reminds me of latter-day Simpsons in concept.
"So this week, Homer becomes, like, an air traffic controller...?"
"Sounds good. Who's guest voicing? Their appearance had better feel organic!"
"...Tom Petty?"
