48 States in 6 Days - Charity Ride A motorcyclist is trying to set a new record, and raise a little money for charity at the same time. Averaging 1,200 miles on a motorcycle for 5 1/2 days doesn't sound incredibly enjoyable to me.
Don't judge bikers by the news clippings you see in your newspapers about gangs, Hells Angels, etc... The people in these clubs are known as 1%'ers. 1% refers to the fact that the people in 'outlaw' clubs make up one percent of all bikers. And even these do quite a bit for their communities.
In Texas, as well as in other states there is an organization known as Bikers Against Child Abuse. BACA for short. Members are made up of bikers from all walks of life, from the hardcore 1%'er to the Accountant. There are god knows how many charity rides all over the country every year.

"Bikers have a longstanding tradition of using their sport to help children that can't help themselves."
That makes me chuckle a bit...it's news to me, but a good cause for sure.
