At least three celebrities we know of have died today, with countless others in the past week. What the hell is going on and how will we possibly keep track? I just found this smashing site that will tickle every dead celeb following persons fancy.
They even have a top ten list of famous dead people from 2008!!!. Can't wait for this years, who can possibly beat the King of Pop???!!???
From the site:
You can even "share your love":

From the site:
Let's make it clear: We're not here to enjoy people's deaths. Nobody is making bets or giving high-fives. We are here to share love and memory. God bless everyone.
You can even "share your love":
John: I cried yesterday for MJ. I woke up today to find Billy Mays is gone. I never liked him, but I like him now. RIPSometimes when a celebrity dies people begin to like them. Touching stuff.
This post was deleted for the following reason: Do not make intentionally bad posts to prove a point. If you want to talk about site policy/etiquette/etc., do it in Metatalk, that's what it's there for. -- cortex
Thank you! I was looking for something like this...over at obituaries.com, it's just a long list of local papers online obits. Which is cool, but I didn't wanna make a FPP about it, I knew some other mefite would come through.

Not when you mention the King of POP though!!!!!!! I mean, it's all just too fucking crazy for me to deal with right now. NOTHING IS SUFFICIENT ANYMORE

Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never look to see for whom HollywoodMemoirs.com's RSS feed is updated; it updates for thee.

It's just because a larger cohort of celebrities is now entering the death zone of aging.

Who? According to your link Karl Malden died, but the dude was 97. Other than that Zsa Zsa Gabor got out of hospital so that hardly counts, and Harvey Prensell died the day before though he was 75 and had cancer so that wasn't hard to see coming.
What the hell is going on
People die. Happens every day. Even celebrities.

From the blaring of the TV & the fact that banging on his front door did nothing, I thought my upstairs neighbour had passed away tonight. But no. Drunk & asleep as usual. However he smokes to an Olympic standard so I'm guessing it'll be one day. Maybe I'll let everyone know when it all goes down...

Sometimes when a bad post is deleted people begin to like it. Touching stuff.
It's an intentionally bad post and maybe it will be deleted. My point is that this intentionally bad post is probably more "best" (or worst) of the web than continual postings about celebrities dying. Metafilter will decide that one way or another.
I just remember people screaming Iraqfilter all the time during the occupation when that was a hell of a lot more relevant to me than random famous people.

I would so like to see all ObitFilter posts to go to Hollywood Memoir instead of being posted to the blue. It is getting simply ridiculous at this point: celebrities die every damn day. There are over 200 countries on this world, and each has dozens of celebrities. It would not be difficult to crapflood MeFi with obituaries. Hell, IMO the Mayes obit pushed us way into that territory.

What's needed is a final solution to the celebrity problem
The problem is that the natural predators of the Celebrity, Trees, Cars, and high-quality street drugs, are already locked in a high-intensity evolutionary battle with the Celebrity. Witness L.A having a stable, yet very fierce and combative Celebrity predatory-prey population. It's not as simple as sending out aphids I'm afraid.

Exactly. I know this probably belongs on Meta Talk but I thought a front page post on the subject is required as it's not nice to piss on dead people posts (I felt a bit guilty about that).

I always enjoy the annual Lives They Lived issue of the New York Times Magazine because it features the well known and also people I always wish I'd known about before their deaths (usually inventors of wacky stuff, writers, etc...)
