The Katamari game looks pretty cute. I can see my local group of crumbsnatchers picking this up for sure.

These actually look pretty fun. For kids. I'm going to stick with bocce so I don't break my hip.

Some of those rules are way too complicated for kids to follow without just spending the whole time arguing.

The Frogger game would be more fun if you live near a major highway.

Katamari StickWithMe might also be called "Borg ResistanceIsFutile" or "The Blob EngulfWithMe."

Reminds me of this review of the MMO Outside.

Is this more or less nerdy than LARPing? The bullies only have so much time and need to prioritize.

And yeah, the Katamari game does look like a fun tag variation.

Okay, but where do I attach the controller?

As long as they stay outside, I'm OK with that.

As long as they stay outside off my lawn, I'm OK with that.

Fantasy outfits make LARPing extra nerdy, so I think these games are less nerdy (unless you try re-creating game levels for live-action replaying, which would raise you to some pinnacle of nerdiness, much like the Mega64 folks).

Get back to me when they come up with an outdoor version of Smash Brothers.

Or is that what paintball is?

I'd like to see a real world analogue of Wii Baseball.

When I take off my glasses, it's like playing with full-screen anti-aliasing (FSAA)!

Well, yes. Isn't that the point? God knows half the fun of Magic: the Gathering for me, when I was getting into it at around the age of 12, was keeping track of all the arcane rules and exceptions and loopholes and technicalities and timing details.

I actually played a variation of the Katamari tag as a kid! Except that everyone ran in a big swinging chain of It, instead of having to be a ball. It was pretty fun, as I remember. I'm pretty sure our variations of "pretend" included some video game characters, too.

I used to think of certain games, like the first Zelda and the obscure Magic of Scheherezade, as being like backyards inside the TV. You could just wander around and play and kick rocks by yourself.

Yay chain tag! Yeah, I played this too. I remember it being Extremely Awesome, but my age could be expressed in one digit at the time so I'm not sure how Awesome it actually was. It's a shame we never thought of Katamari tag (clump tag?), that sound like even more fun.
