Can someone say "Ax Grinding"?

Dudes, I included both of his previous appearances here. One was all about his video work. The other was a 2005 link to a site that has little of his Katrina stuff. His photos are awesome. His latest entry at his blog is sad--the effects of Katrina have not gone away.

And I gave you superheroes yesterday!

Do you really think those Katrina pics aren't best of the web?

I really like Clayton Cubitt's work, but you are off on a tear shetterly and you'd better serve the issues you want to talk about by taking a day off and not trying to martyr yourself. Most of the people here dig where you are coming from, but they aren't interested in you banging on pots and pans and yelling about it all the time.

Maybe you're having a bad week or something, take a minute and come back when you can be a less contentious part of the community, you'll be welcome.

I absolutely adore Clayton's work, all of it. Even if it's a little disturbing. I feel like that's one of the things that spans all his stuff--it's often beautiful and challenging, all at once. Like that McKain Street photo on Operation Eden.

His site is a little oddly organized. I should've noted a second set of Katrina pics that include some duplicates.

These are beautiful.

But shetterly, seriously. That thing about you becoming a sitewide joke? Yeah. And it's not because people talking about the effects of race and racism have never considered the class angle and are unfamiliar with the connections between class and race. Sometimes conversations can be about just one thing, and that's what it needs to be, and that's okay. Just like this thread is going to be about your axe-grinding rather than the links.

Uh, folks? I haven't said a word about class and race here. Don't the pictures speak for themselves?

are you nuts?

Actually, please leave that question as rhetorical. Because I do believe they speak for themselves.

Um:

"Via Race and Class in America."

The first paragraph of that page is:
It’s kind of a no-no in America to talk about class. Our country’s supposed to be classless — this is one of our great national myths.
If you just wanted to link to the pictures, you should have just linked to the pictures.

delmoi, that's the title of the page where I first came across the pics. If a source seems a bit obscure, it seems right to link to them. Sure, I came across this because I'm obsessed with class and race, but either it's best of the web or it's not, regardless of the source.
