Let me take you to Circly Town

Artist Felice Varini has made an art project out of the town of Vercorin in the Swiss Alps. A wee bit of background, and the artist's own behind the scenes. (via)
I didn't know they made projectors that powerful. It's pretty impressive for that reason alone!

So I guess this is what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps.

Reminds me of the work Georges Rousse. Very similar style, though Rousse's end 'product' is a photograph of the installation.

It's not an illusion, MiltonRandKalman, it's a massive painting that only becomes coherent (cohesive?) from a certain angle. The Winsome PL referred to a projector because that's the technology Varini used in both installations (Cardiff and Vercorin) to plan/lay out where the paint would go. You can see an example of the power involved in a couple of pictures on this page from the Behind the Scenes link from my original post, and the bottom two shots on this page.
