The Domestic Transformer

This architecture student in Hong Kong turned his 330 sq. foot apartment into a modular space with moving walls that allows for 24 different living combinations. Modular living has typically implied pre-fabricated houses ranging from your typical aluminum trailer to some bizarre and more modern, eco-friendly varieties, but this represents an example of applying the transformative utility of a hide-a-bed to your entire living space.

"That's why I put the mirror there [over the bed], to make the tracks become less conspicuous."

Johnny LaRue's bedroom was a giant bed with a cushion in the middle that opened to reveal a wine cellar, so this is nothing new.

"Get up so I can make you breakfast in bed!"

Cool idea nonetheless. Now how do you convince your landlord to let you modify your apartment to such a degree?

Anyone know how he gets power to the TV? Through the tracks I'm guessing.

I was wondering the same thing, but I didn't think of anything as ingenious as the tracks. I thought maybe he just has some loose cord hanging out underneath the floorboards

I have a friend who did something similar to this in Austin, but that was with drops of white fabric and more of a lofty type space.
