I'm generally all for dorky memes and general Internet stoopidity, but this is just dumb.

Oh, wait, I'm sorry. Am I doing it wrong?

This is almost apt.

I'm finding this site hypnotically addictive.

"Love is demanding, without understanding. Buoyant Swedes like these will never successfully dodge those pesky Abba comparisons, so let's set the record straight: Ace of Base were better. Like, a lot better. Benny and Bjorn may have drawn up the initial blueprints for mega-platinum Europop, but by the time sisters Jenny and Linn Berggren were recruited by their brother Jonas and his fellow keyboardist Ulf Ekberg, three colossally tectonic musical developments had considerably toned up the old girl: techno, Madonna and the gloomier edge of new wave. In other words, Ace of Base had beats (a sly reggae no less insinuating for being synthetized), savvy chick singers (well, savvier than Agnetha and Frida anyway) and an undertow of melancholy portent that was as tart as lemon-lime bubble gum.

A decade and a half after the fact, haunting questions remain: Is the sex predator of "All That She Wants" a duplicitously fertile welfare cheat? Does the fact that "Happy Nation" and "Beautiful Life" both sound so darn sad have something to do with the fact that Ace of Base hail from a socialist paradise that is nonetheless dangerously daylight-deficient? And most of all, will Eurodisco ever top the amazingness that is "The Sign"? If you hear anyone dismissing these confections as mere "guilty pleasures," steer clear of the bum. How could a person like that bring you joy?"

I dispute the "unrelated" idea for one of these captions. It seems to me, "Then you shall have no pie," is a statement which suits any situation. Indeed, one could apply it to the source material that produced the other captions. Tell me there is not a distinct frisson of pleasure at the idea of Leonidas kicking the Persian emissaries down the well while screaming, "Then you shall have no pie!"

Imagine the possibilities: Ruby shooting Oswald? Marat dying in his bathtub? The helicopter on the roof during the fall of Saigon? Jean Chretien throttling a protester? Vinko Bogataj careening disastrously off the side of the ski jump ramp? In each case: no pie.

This reminds me of something an overcaffeinated high schooler would love.

"Hey guys isn't this RANDOM thing I'm doing so RANDOM?!? Wouldn't it be hilarious if my RANDOM thing was even more RANDOM because I'm such a RANDOM wacky person who loves to be RANDOM and oh man aren't RANDOM swear words so like RANDOMLY hilarious!?"

This is satire. It's not all that interesting in terms of content, but I'm glad it's there.

I'm not sure it's really satire either. At least not effective satire. The Nick Cage is everyone tumblr, however...

This leads to DaDa which leads to people posting scans of Pollock paintings and then everyone gets all reactionary and conservative and structural again and we're back to pointillist renderings of ladies having tea by the Seine again.
