Good stuff. Art, do you know this guy, or is he just on your comix radar?
They actually have regular rotating shows of aviation and space art, much of it what you would expect, at the Museum of Flight. These are well off the beaten path and there's an obvious connection to the joint in the subject matter. Not that I could say whether that would help or hurt, mind.

Am...am I the only person who saw the "XX" in the title of this post and expected a very different sort of drawing?
No? Just me?
All right. I'll be in the corner thinking about what I did.

Born in Shanghai to missionary parents, Shannon Lucid...
When she was up in the Mir for 6 months, her name came up on the radio when I was with my mom once. My mom just casually mentioned "oh yeah, Shannon Lucid. she lived with grandma and grandpa for a while in high school1. parents were missionaries." and I was all WHAAAAAA!?
1Except from Wikipedia it looks like it wouldn't have been HS. I don't remember the details now. My grandparents knew every single human being on Earth at one point.

fearfulsymmetry, I was also struck by the grimness of Sullivan's expression. I think she could be trusted with orbital bombardment equipment as well.

Oh come on, those aren't really female astronauts! Everyone who's read SF magazines knows from the covers that female astronauts wear skin-tight spacesuits and have huge gazongas. Also for some reason they need to be carried places by robots and aliens. Must be those tiny ankles.
Seriously though, the reality is so much better than the fiction- I'm hoping this will inspire some more kids to go into the hard sciences.

Distinct lack of Mae Jemison
(checks wikipedia list of female astronauts)
um, Nevermind.
Seems to be an encouraging number of female astronauts!
