Awesome Robot Friends

My Robot Friend has just released a lovely video for the acoustic version of 'Waiting' a song he made with Alison Moyet for his new album Soft-Core. The video was created by Liam Stevens. It was made using only paper, pen, and ink and took several months to complete. A true labour of love, and very good too.
I really like this.

No linking to your friends' stuff, even if they are robots.
But this is pretty awesome.

I've been on MeFi too long. As soon as I saw "My Robot Friend" I was all "Hey, you can't make a post about your friend's stuff!"
Neat video.

Great video, I really like the song too. Going to the website to hear the original, not so much. This guy should become My Acoustic Friend.

If you haven't seen My Robot Friend's video for Robot High School you are missing out. The song and the video mesh together and are just perfectly bizarre.

The video says it's for a version featuring Jay Kauffman, not Alison Moyet. Both the song and the video are lovely.

Jay Kauffman plays guitar on the version of the song in the video. Alison Moyet provides the vocals in the original version.

That video was amazing, I can't imagine the amount of effort it took to complete. The song... well, I'll withhold comment on the song. Some people like generic indie-rock.

It's always weird when people come back to their threads and try and defend them, but I suggest you listen to the Alison Moyet version and compare it with this one DecemberBoy, a good song is a good song. But then art is kind of subjective...

I saw My Robot Friend at a dive bar in Adam's Morgan, oh back in 2003 or so. I hadn't heard of him, it was just at a friend's party back when electroclash was a trendy thing. I don't really have anything interesting to say about his show, because I barely remember it, other than that he wore a strap-on at some point during the show. I got the impression that it was not at all about the music, so I barely paid attention... i'm actually surprised he's still at it.

i really like my robot friend. i'm also really surprised that i like his 'lighter side' so much.
empath, i've always been under the impression that the lighted suit et al is more about performance art than the gimmick you suggest. i'm actually surprised that he's never caught on & gotten a wider audience.
