Kind of like shooting fish in a barrel but far less cruel. I can't help but love these sorts of compilations. (from McSweeney's)

Are those real quotes of Bush, or just phenomenally dead-on impersonations of his style of speech? Either way, that's scary stuff- this Bush fellow, he's stupid in a way that even Reagan wasn't, which I wouldn't have thought possible...

Are those real quotes of Bush...?

I heard several of these word-for-word on NPR this morning. It may be a mesh of fact and fiction, but I think it's all fact.

Bush described Rome as "a romantic city".

He also stood on the Senate steps and noted that "you have given us so many of our words." Such as "romantic", perhaps.

*inspiration strikes*
I'm gonna have to give some of that Bush-wah to my soon-to-be ESL students and have them explain why it's wrong, then rewrite it correctly. Useful exercise, and highly amusing too...imagine their glee to learn that they speak English better than the president of the United States!
*inspiration flees*

(amusing sidelight - hit #6 is MeFi)
