Obese, gluttonous, and cannibalistic is no way to go through life, son: profile of a multi-core galaxy 20 times larger than the Milky Way.

You know, I've been looking at these beautiful, and ever-increasingly ravishingly beautiful pictures of the cosmos for almost my entire life now; and at the same time, on a parallel track, I've been waiting and urgently hoping for us to come up with definitive evidence of life outside the Earth, and really, evidence that life is quite common throughout the universe.
Yet if such evidence of life everywhere were to be presented now, my almost unimaginably wonderful cosmic fireworks display would be instantly transformed into the firebombing of Dresden on an unthinkably vast scale, entailing even more unthinkably vast and awful carnage.
