Come Again

The Kleptones work their mashup magic on The Beatles' Come Together vs. a whole slew of other songs, and then Crumbs Chief turns it into a dance extravaganza. Celebrate your Friday with Come Again. (SLVimeo, 8m17s)

While I appreciate the mash-up, I thought the video was severely lacking. Too often the dance clips were just a random amalgam of moments from musicals, rather than a well-timed, well-edited video that worked with the music, instead of next to it.

Not bad. Too many white people, though (hey, aren't we 'Mericans sposed to be having a "teachable moment" here?).

I liked it; some of the dance clips did relate directly to the music or the lyrics and if the videomakers had tried to do it with every clip, the 'gee whiz' effect would have become wearying before the 8 minute video was over. Still, it had too much Beastie Boys and enough Rare Earth for my personal taste and just stopped abrupty there but all in all, it was well worth my time.
Have the Oscars or an IFC tribute show ever done a montage of every iconic dance scene in the history of the movies? Just wondering if this had something to steal wholesale from...

That was pretty damn awesome. My only complaint was the Beastie Boys vocals being mixed too high, you lost a lot of what was going on musically in that stretch.
Does anyone know from whence the clip early on with the guys in business suits with briefcases dancing outside. I'd like to see the rest of that.

It's from Julie Taymor's Beatle valentine Across the Universe.

I love mashups, I can always appreciate the technical skill the Kleptones put into their mashes, but I rarely find their songs enjoyable. What's wrong with me?

If it makes you feel any better, Evilspork, I really enjoyed the song and the video until about the 3:30 mark, and then I started to lose interest. I pushed through the rest of it, but it just wasn't holding my attention the same way. I could still appreciate that it was well done, but I just didn't find it fun any more. Maybe it's a little too much of a good thing?

Where the people singing along to "Come Together" (that wasn't John Lennon) from Across the Universe too?

Evilspork, I love the Kleptones, but there are plenty of mashups of I feel that way about (United States of Pop being the first that comes to mind).
