It isn't every airline offers flights for 50p...

Cheap Flights by Fascinating Aida is a new song from a trio of satirical women who have been making people laugh for over a quarter of a century. As they say on their homepage "It started by going fungal, then it went bacterial, and is in severe danger of going viral. Hurrah! We write a hit - it's only taken 27 years!". Other notable songs include their ode to viagra Getting it, White's Blues, and an old gem Time, from 1987.

ummm if you are Britside do watch out. I clicked on the dogging one before expecting a laugh riot or at least a chuckle. Instead I got Victoria Wood x worse. Real cringers. And not in a good way. The cruise ship circuit awaits.

Huh, different strokes I guess. I think 'Time' is great and the others are clever fun. I love this kind of cabaret act. How have I never heard of this group before now? Thanks, handee.

True. Its all relative. But the only stroke this lot make me want to do is with my finger to the back of my throat. It's far too light to be satire. Calling it satire would be like calling a seaside postcard hardcore pornography. Someone should do a BBC4 doc on them. Could be the Anvil! of UK light entertainment. They've been plugging at it long enough to similar effect.

Oh my.

Ok, The Salaryman, we get it. You don't like them. You've said so twice. Thanks.

I like them. Very much. Thanks for this post.

Song For Tom is another fine tune of theirs: like some others it's not so much satire as a character driven comic song.

Great song. It perfectly captures a depressingly familiar on-line journey. You start off thinking that you're way too smart to be taken in by a low headline price because you've factored in a margin for the extras that you'll inevitably get billed for. Several screens later comes the crushing realisation that your "budget" trip is not just slightly more expensive than you thought, but more expensive than you can possibly imagine and that you're just a great eejit for ever having believed you'd be able to afford it in the first place.

It's very Irish in style - it's almost as if they had some particular airline in mind...

I do like it. They have a number of talents and the clips are quite charming and funny. Thank you. It's nice to see musicianship and wit matched in a good way.

Christ, Salaryman. They're not to my taste, but they've been about Radio 4 for years so they're hardly cruise ship material. (And just what is wrong with Victoria Wood, ffs?)

Sent this to a couple of anglo-phile pals and they enjoyed it thoroughly. Thanks again, handee.
