Like voting things against other things? Princeton University has applied this concept to the suggestion box to create All Our Ideas, a website where you can create a suggestion box and allow others to vote on and add suggestions. As an example, here's one for MeFi!

Special thanks to jasonhong for commenting about this!

MeFi is really going to put this voting system through a trial by fire.

Hopelessly addictive. I added one for my neighborhood association, and I'm seriously thinking about using it to help figure out what projects we should focus on.

I like having it on auto add new ideas, but I'm also taking an internet free boat trip this weekend. Can I trust you guys not to troll the hell out of this if I leave?

I like watching the "number of votes" thing tick up every time I reload. I'm weird like that.

Oh man, you are so too late.

It wasn't me.

I think that cat has left the barn, or the horse forgot his bag, or something.

What is that cat doing in that bag anyway and why shouldn't we let it out?

"You have chosen 'More Lady Gaga' over 'Less Lady Gaga'."

I'm...really very, very sorry.

Um, you can trust that I'm having fun if that is any solace.

Anyone want to take responsibility for adding "more tentacle porn"?

Probably this mefite.

I wonder what their inapproriate threshold is?

When do you get to the end?

Hmmm. "more internet free boat trips" vs "more hipster dinosaurs"

Actually, every time you click inappropriate, I get an email saying there's something inappropriate on the site, and I have to intervene manually.

I like full disclosure, but I think I might be giving the trolls too much info.

The 10th Regiment of Foot - Have you ever seen a cat in a bag? Cats love bags. Dang.

I just chose more turtles over the cabal.

Declaw the cat in the bag. Problem solved.
posted by Rumple at 6:51 PM on September 3, 2010

That won't help. It's cabal turtles all the way down. That's what I heard anyway.

The visualizations are entertaining. Apparently, what MetaFilter wants is MORE.

I tried to vote for larger ponies over automobiles, and was told that there was too much traffic.

So I didn't get to vote, yet was proven correct. Fewer automobiles, more ponies.

But what will the ponies drive? Especially should a crisis arise.

I was invited to give us $20, like in town, or more deep throating. Good work, kids.

I went for the latter, btw. Wondering when it'll arrive. How does this work?
posted by imperium at 11:23 PM on September 3, 2010

Okay, good news kids. If you flag it as inappropriate, it automatically gets deactivated. Meaning the offensive thing stays off until I have a chance to look at it. Yeah internet free boat weekend in t- 3 hours!

That explains why some that were there last night are gone now, I guess. Like Mr. Rogers.

Sarasota Florida has voted more than 1900 times. Someone has OCD.

Back from the boat. Presumably, you guys have found the best pony ever?
