"Protrude, Flow"

"Protrude, Flow" A most amazing artistic endeavor - metallic filings dumped in oil to make magnetic liquid, and the fun that ensued afterwards. Make sure to check out the video as well! (from memepool)
I was at SIGGRAPH and didn't get to see this =\ I was working our booth for most of the show though, and only really got to check out the gallery and emerging technologies on the Friday.. maybe they'd gone by then.
I did get to check out another installation where you spoke into a microphone, that caused the effect of the letters you spoke to fall into a pool of water, where they floated around.. you could catch them and stir them. All done with projections. Very neat.

This was *the* coolest thing at siggraph. As you go into the booth, you can see the live video projected on the wall, but, since its a video, it just looks like cg. But, when you get close and realize that it's real, it's unbelievable!

That is amazing! I saw a link on FilePile, but didn't bother watching it until now... looks like something that will show up in a Tool video... creepy/appealing

I've seen this in the flesh. It's even cooler than it looks here. It really seems to bridge the mechanical and organic.

Yet another example of art imitating X-men The Movie. (Wish I could find a photo of that gadget to link to, but...)
