Wikileaks' Newest Leak Leaked on Twitter as WikiLeaks claim ‘mass distributed denial of service attack’ on website.
The full tranche of cables is apparently scheduled to be released by Wikileaks this afternoon at around 4:30 pm EST in concert with The New York Times, the Guardian and Der Spiegel.

Predictions?

It's splitsville for Tom Arnold and Rosanne Barr.

I'm curious as to why wikileaks releases in tranches (latest reports say they're staggering the release across several days this week). And why the selective pre-release to certain news organizations? Why not just dump everything you have in a particular bundle out at once and say "have at it"? Is it just a way of generating buzz?

Predictions?

Timing the release to coincide nearly with cocktail hour means the leaks will be enough to make everyone want to get really, really smashed.

Is it just a way of generating buzz?

One piece of evidence of wrongdoing is a sensation; all of them is yawn-inducing info-overload.

I believe the theory was that the well respected newspapers would help to vet the information (and presumably provide context), since Wikileaks doesn't necessarily have the resources to do so.
