Thanks to the magic of video editing, we can have a Peacock Spider Christmas (SLYT). Aw, look at all the tiny little eyes.
That's really good.

I loved the eyes on the snow man. This was really well thought out.

Awww....
This is the one thread where people might appreciate this photo I got yesterday of our lovely St Andrew's Cross spider having her Christmas dinner. It took her about an hour to finish up the fly, and then she spent another hour meticulously cleaning each of her legs. (And least I assume that's what she was doing. She would pass them one by one past her front antenna-ey bits like a cat licking itself clean.)

HUGE.
Well, about 4.5cm in leg span, and about 1.5cm body. (I just went out and put a ruler next to it, and I swear it looked up at me confused, and stopped nomming on its new fly for a minute. It's repaired its web now too so it has the full cross again.)

That's a beautiful spider! What is the purpose of the thick zigzag sections?

She was trying to write 'Some pig!' but hasn't got past 'z' in the alphabet yet. (She's learning it backwards).

It is claimed that E. B. White came up with the idea of a writing spider for his book Charlotte's Web after observing stabilimenta in a spider web.If you didn't know this I'm impressed, lollusc (I'm impressed anyway, actually).
