The smartest thing I ever heard a politician say was that "Women's rights are human rights" (Hillary Clinton). So clear and simple, and puts the lie to platitudes about solving poverty for families, because poverty is generated by lack of family planning.

I appreciate how this centers the woman’s experience, as it’s pregnant people’s humanity and citizenship at risk with these abominable laws. This particular scenario is instructive, though. Forced birthers do not care how many lives are lost. One fetus is to be sacrificed here to demonstrate that the pregnant woman has no choice.

As heartbreaking as this genuinely was, it left me wondering about all the many other heartbreaking stories we won't hear. We'll only read the statistics numbly from a distance after the fact.
