You put a dollar bill into the 'Ask The Brain' fortune telling machine and await its response. Roll a seven-sided die or use a random-number generator. One Two Three Four Five Six Seven

The post title is a nod to the time Mad Magazine did one better than this post - one issue came with a flexidisc record with EIGHT spiral grooves, each with the same song but a different ending. Here's all eight versions - in full or just the intro followed by each ending.

Reminds me of the Monty Python's Matching Tie and Handkerchief album, wherein side-2 had two grooves, each with completely different material. My friends and I never knew about this feature until one day someone accidentally bumped the turntable, the needle skipped, and we were suddenly hearing material we hadn't heard before, despite playing the damned thing dozens of times. Until that time, the only thing we noted was that side-2 seemed to be crazy short compared to side-1.

That episode of The Twilight Zone with William Shatner in a diner waiting for his car to be repaired is clearly due for a remake.

My brother and I played "It's a Super Spectacular Day" on our record player over and over one day in 1980 in hopes of hearing all eight endings. The cruel shortcomings of analog technology meant we only heard six. Those last two taunted us, replay after replay, refusing to be known. In that afternoon, the intro to that song eroded a deep channel across my brain. That "UNTIL..." will never leave me.

John Cooper Clarke's "Twat/Splat" single had 2 concentric grooves, with the profanities replaced by sound effects on the "Splat" version but I didn't know this when playing it once to see if worth taping, getting high then playing it again to record and immediately thinking I had lost my mind...
