After over a quarter century, The Jesus Lizard are releasing a new album and small tour.

They have even released a song on YouTube which... sounds like a fine addition to their oeuvre.

For those not in the know, the name of the band is not blasphemous*. Rather, named after this little critter which appears to be able to walk on water.

If you like, please enjoy further destroying your hearing with the upcoming release and tour.

*I could not quickly find a cite, but I am sure I have seen David Yow say this.

And, also, yes a four letter title for the post. Just happened to rhyme with the new release. Maybe it was subconscious.

Saw them once in their heyday. Great live band, great records.

I saw them in Florida. David Yow was reeling around the stage with a red-headed girl from the audience. I looked down, looked back up, girl no longer on stage, but there was a huge hank of her hair. Possibly it was an accident. Maybe. But at the time I was incensed. Spitting and puking on people is one thing, but tearing out hair? I considered it a bridge too far. So when he went crowd surfing and his head ended up in my hands for a moment, I pondered his shrieking visage for a second ant then took the opportunity to pinch his nose shut. He attempted to spit on me, but it's hard to aim from that position, so somebody else got the christening. Later I saw them in Pittsburgh. I got out of bed the day after the show, took one step, and fell to the floor: calves no longer functioning. That band could move a stump.

Anyone have any info if this tour will be good or not? Has scratch acid been good live? I've seen some great reunion acts (Botch) and some not so great ones.

I saw them during their previous reunion and I didn’t expect much but they’re were great and savage. So I still believe they can be great now.

I saw Scratch Acid about 15 years ago and they were wild and a lot of fun. Also saw David Yow front Flipper about five years ago and that was a blast too. He's mellowed but is as entertaining as ever.

Maybe I'm just skeptical. I had no hope that the Pixies would be good last night, but holy shit Frank Black's voice still sounds amazing. Probably gonna jump on the JL train.
