I Can Feel It Coming In the Gatorwine

Babish, aka Andrew Rea of the Babish Culinary Universe, ranks the strangest recipes submitted to him by his viewers. Featuring gatorwine, a number of brief musical interludes inspired by gatorwine, and a range of scores for the strange recipes going from 0 (tuna tacos. but not like, the good kind. you'll see.) to 10 (pokkorn, a delicious looking take on popcorn).

The popcorn does sound good.

The ramen/Easy Mac combo is 100% "I'm drunk and hungry" but I also want to try it.

I could see thinking Cheez-Its & applesauce would be good but I can also see how that just wouldn't actually work out.

And yes, Gatorwine. Who among us/etc.

This is good and it's a drunk vegan staple -- toasted bread/tortilla spread with tahini (peanut butter works in a pinch) then topped with a coating of nutritional yeast and a drizzle of sriracha. OK, you don't have to be drunk for it. Sometimes you just have to be broke and those are the things you have around (but it's still good).

This was a fun one.

I immediately assumed somebody had fermented Gatorade. Which would work, and be way grosser than this.

Thanks to food cube rule I had no trouble inventing peanut butter tortilla last week and it’s quickly become a staple in foods that I’m likely to be able to make for myself. Glad to know it has a name!

Peanut butter tortilla is something that I've packed for the 2nd or 3rd day of a hiking trip. And because of that it's also something I'll eat at home if I need some food now but all the better groceries have been finished.

I had a friend who once joked about a friend's hippie mother who put peanut butter on a whole wheat pita like it was the worst thing in the world and I just thought, well, what's wrong with that? And I mean, OK, straight out the package isn't great. At least toast it first.

I do feel like Babish was maybe too harsh on some of the savory/sweet combos (although I agree you're supposed to get savory first and then sweet and not the other way around). But sometimes people just want to eat what they want to eat.

I think we can all agree that tuna taco was a thing of nightmares but I want only the best things for the person who keeps eating that.

My "favorite" thing about the tuna tacos was the profoundly menacing way Kendall said "only the shell is heated", and the despair that followed.

Honestly, tuna salad taco isn't the worst thing I've ever heard, it's not that far off from a tuna salad wrap after all, but the execution here with the (warmed) hard shell taco and the Miracle Whip turned the concept hellish.

Yeah, like I could see how it was a really weird take on a tuna melt but the Miracle Whip pushed it over the edge for me (that and it was just canned tuna mixed with Miracle Whip and nothing else ...).

But we all eat weird things and more power to us.

I like this bit near the end:
Kendall, innocently: What--what do they mean by 'Not those tuna tacos!' Like... ahi tuna tacos? Or something-
Babish: THEY MEANT AHI TUNA TACOS SO LET'S MOVE ON TO SOMETHING ELSE.

If you've ever wondered if someone has made booze out of some random beverage... generally you don't really have to look further than the Whiskey Tribe YouTube...
