Electric Callboy is the most partycore metal fun you'll ever experience: We Got The Moves

I've had this on the "probably my best of 2024 playlist" since its release and I'm confident it's going in reach my top three in December. Electric Cowboy popped up on my radar during Eurovision 2022 season when they submitted "Pump It" to the German broadcaster for consideration. It rapidly became a community favourite, but NDR decided not to put it through to the televised selection process.

Germany finished 25th out of 25 at that year's Contest.

My daughters and I have seen this so many times that we can do the dance together! My wife just rolls her eyes. Giant Disco Ball FTW!

I went down a Youtube rabbit hole of Japanese metal music videos sometime in early 2023, which led me to a recommendation for Electric Callboy. I purchased a ticket to an upcoming concert soon thereafter. So much fun.

For those interested, here were some of the highlights of my journey through the recommendation algorithm:

マキシマム ザ ホルモン 『maximum the hormone Ⅱ~これからの麺カタコッテリの話をしよう~』 Music Video Get ready for a jarring genre shift that somehow works.

八十八ヶ所巡礼「仏滅トリシュナー」 Good music, strange video.

ハードオフ店員がジャンク品でX JAPANのSilent Jealousyを演奏 From what I can tell, this guy works at a second hand store called Hard Off and films himself (after hours?) doing cover songs, playing every instrument and singing.

In the hail of great costume design, the alien finger gloves got me. Like a cute little hat on all the finger-guns choreography. With maximalist pop, you can never have too many hats.

Is this that hit 'em I've been hearing so much about?

Up til now, Scream and Shout covered by Frog Leap Studios was the pinnacle of fun metal for me (it's actually way better than the original, IMO).

He does a lot of other covers from just about any genre, some are great like the above, some are just straight covers, and some ... not so much (it just doesn't work for me as metal).

Since it's still 2024, here's ELECTRIC CALLBOY react to RATATATA Reaction Videos.

I've never heard of Electric Callboy, but they seem fun. Babymetal is the fucking SHIT though. I saw them live a few years back and that show was amazing. As fun as the pop/metal mixture sounds like on paper, they are a lot more creative than that description would imply. Really interesting music, and their stage show is brilliant.

Thank you. I constantly forget BabyMetal exists and will now spend several hours lost in youtube.

Partycore? Partycore is a THING ?

:: runs off to YouTube to search for playlists ::

Apart from Babymetal and Ratatata anyone got any more Party-core recommendations ?

Electric Callboy were doing something fun in getting other bands to cover their song Hypa Hypa and do a video in their (E.C.'s) style. The video with (mediaeval metal band) Saltatio Mortis is quite special. It's my personal hope that one day they get well known enough that Rammstein make one too.
