Jane Fonda on Jimmy Kimmel, Sept 11, 2024 After a short exchange about Kamala Harris and the Orange Man (her words), she makes a compelling and immediate case for really waking up to the climate crisis.

“When we vote for a president we are not marrying them.”
“We cannot afford to lose four more years to the climate crisis.”

Jane Fonda on Lovett or Leave It, Sept 15, 2024

She is proudly 87. It is amazing. I so wish I could afford a fraction of the help she’s had to look so vibrant! And the hair! You have to have people to help you with these things.
But what a life she’s had.

PLEASE NOTE: This was not intended as a comprehensive Jane Fonda post.

I think I buried the lede. I hadn’t watched the John Lovett (I recently started listening to Pod Save America, finally) interview, I just added it because it was recent and covered the same topics, and figured I would watch it next. Which I am. What I did not expect: “I thought you were a different John Lovett… (but she says she is pleasantly surprised). Two smart people giving each other shit, it is hilarious.

I love Jane Fonda’s earnestness and passion. To still care about big things at 87 is cool AF.

Jane Fonda interviewed a friend of mine, a woman who is a prominent activist in climate change, in a livestreamed interview on her website a few years ago.

At one point, Fonda was praising her and her work, and prefaced it with, "As I look at your beautiful face..."

As soon as it ended, I texted her: "JANE FONDA SAID YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL FACE"

I'm not sure how my friend is still with us. If Jane Fonda -- Jane Fonda, people! -- said something like to me, I think my heart would have exploded right on the spot.

I've seen Jane Fonda show up at tiny little protest marches around LA. That lady walks the walk!

Streets of LA indeed. Fonda is a real one.

That seems like rhetoric, when you see these LNG terminals on fire, you know, Bladerunner didn't show half of it

Since at least the 90s, when as Sir Mix A Lot poignantly observed, she had no motor in the back of her (presumably pedal-powered) Honda.
