A music video for Sade's 'Young Lion,' dedicated to her trans son Izaak. From the TRAИ​ƧA compilation (previously), it's her first new song in six years.

I'm not trans, but as I thought of sharing this video with a trans friend I paused to wonder how it would be for him to see a song about a trans man with so much imagery from his past as a girl. It's a lovely song, and clearly a beautiful conversation between Sade and Izaak. I'm curious about the various ways that this video lands with folks.

As a trans guy: I think it's beautiful. We don't forget our pasts when/if we transition. Some of us are able to embrace our young selves as girls, or as boys who weren't yet aware they were boys. Some prefer to avoid it. But it happened, we were those children.

I would share it. Let him decide if he wants to watch it when he realises what the video is about.

Just hit this buried down at track 37 (!!) in the TRAИƧA compilation. Great song! Now that it's actually out, the whole compilation is very worth a listen. I've been amazed at how well it hangs together as a whole thing despite having over 100 musicians on it, and how consistently high the quality is!
