...the Times' republication of articles taken from white supremacist hate groups...

The Washington Times--not just for moonies anymore. Racists love it too! White men should "run, not walk" to wed "racially conscious" white women and avoid being out-bred by non-whites. Latinos are "rising to take this country away from those who made it," the "Euroamericans." Muslims are "human hyenas" who "smell blood" and are "closing in" on their "weakened prey," meaning "the white race." Blacks, Coombs sneers, are "saintly victims who can do no wrong." Black solidarity and non-white immigration are imposing "racial revolution and decomposition" in America.--the writings of Marian Kester Coombs (in the Wash. Times and out of it), her husband (the managing editor of the Times), and Regnery Publishing.
That does it, I'm canceling my subscription.
You may be, but our President isn't:
That influence may have reached a public peak this winter, when President George W. Bush invited its top leaders — including Coombs, Pruden, Hanner and others — to the White House for an exclusive, 40-minute interview. The resulting stories were spread across the front page of the Times' Jan. 12 edition.
Presumably the president, who on Feb. 8 denounced "the baggage of bigotry" and called racism "the central defect of our founding," knew little of the paper's record on race.

Now, let me get this straight...
A paper owned by an Asian pseudoChristian religious fanatic is publishing editorials by a white woman who believes that non-whites are sapping our nation's strength.

Actually, you're much better off if you veiw this as the journalistic equivalent of a Wild Man Fischer record. Ignore the implications and just enjoy the insanity of it all as perverse entertainment.

I read the Washington Times (online). Yeah it is part of the right-wing echo chamber, and it is a bizarre paper, but they get stories that other papers do not b/c reporters like Gertz & Scarborough have excellent sources at the Pentagon (and they have been consistent in writing negative pieces about Rumsfeld & Co. after going after Aspin, Perry & Cohen for 8 years).

I disagree with the "racially conscious" thing, but I'm perfectly aligned with the "breeding" message.
...well, practicing breeding anyway.
Why aren't people like this laughed at more? This is such an outmoded form of thinking about ethnicity I'm surprised it's not in Elizabethan English.
Since, y'know we have actual geneticists 'n' such now.
That 'racial purity' doesn't exist. There is no real genetic difference between, say, an Eskimo and an African Maasai.
Which is why they could mate.
Which is the start of a joke such as when they walk into a bar, and the bartender says we don't get many....
Anyway, it's odd, but that kind of power does that to you. Gives errors in communication and feedback. So you go a little nuts.
Manson seems to have had the same kind of bizarre thought process as Moon - the whole 'race war' b.s. with them somehow gaining ascendancy.
Hopefully he'll drop into a catatonic fantasy before he can stir up any more trouble.

President Reagan once described it as his favorite paper. The first President Bush said it "in my view brings sanity to Washington, D.C."
The Moonies are bringing sanity to Washington, D.C? The first president Bush was supposed to be the smart one, right? (By "smart one" I mean "capable of critical thought.")

From Mein Kampf:
"In the end only the urge for self-preservation can conquer... Mankind has grown great in eternal struggle, and only in eternal peace does it perish... Nature puts living creatures on this globe and watches the free play of forces. She then confers the master's right on her favorite child, the strongest in courage and industry... the stronger must dominate and not blend with the weaker, thus sacrificing his own greatness. Only the born weakling can view this as cruel."
Fascism is based on the idea that some people are born leaders and ought to dominate, as opposed to the basis of democracy, that all human beings are worthy of being recognized as equals. This doesn't mean all human beings get the same ends, but simply that certain rights are established as "human rights" and guaranteed to all, even if they are "weak" in comparison with their brethren. Fascism is, as others have said, quite comparable to corporatism.
Stalin may have ended up in much the same boat, but it wasn't the spoken philosophy of the government he undertook.

The form of communism employed by the USSR was almost entirely state corporatism, with masses lead by its cult of personality in the form of Lenin, Stalin etc., and amplified by statist "worker-hero" mythology. Stalinist Russia was most certainly Fascist in practice, as defined by its Italian creator, a former socialist. (Mein Kampf is generally not considered a text on Fascism per se, but a document written by a Fascist.)

FascismFilter: In all of these threads, has anyone ever advanced a definition of fascism with which the majority here can agree? That would sure help. Most of the definitions of fascism I see are so vague that they could no only be applied to Stalinism, but to many liberal democracies as well.

There is no real genetic difference between identical twins (or other clones.) There are lots of genetic differences between an Inuit and a Maasai.
They are the same species, and thus, by definition, could produce fertile offspring. The idea of human "races" quickly gets ridiculous if you try to define them genetically, as the traits we associate with race are genetically independent of each other and can be found in pretty much any combination.
But these are very different things from saying there's no real genetic difference among people.

No one ever tried to claim that races were different species. I don't see why we have to deny any racial differences to get over racism. Two africans won't produce an asian baby - certain genetic traits will get passed along, and other options won't be available. Doesn't imply a hierarchical structure of any sort, so why deny the simple fact of difference? What ever happened to that whole diversity is beautiful thing?
