Be-bop Deluxe and The Tubes, two bands I always wanted to see and never got the remotest opportunity.

Always a treat to see old Max Webster pics. Max and beer went hand in hand for me and my mates back in the late 70's.

I saw the Ferry tour, but in Munich that year. I half-agree with Jikido--Bowie and Roxy ruled the 70s...saw Roxy 4 times in Munich, Bowie twice (and the 1 Ferry solo tour with Chris Spedding, Kokomo, et. al.)

Nice photos.

A Song for Europe will always have a special place in my soul. Roxy Music had way cool album covers as well...I think I had them all

Son for Europe on the Stranded studio LP is truly grand...and in concert, simply astounding. I saw the Stranded tour in Munich at the Circus Krone...my girlfriend and I were able to push right to stage, about a few feet from Ferry's feet...he was in his white dinner jacket phase...funny thing, when they came out for the encore (Editions of You) he'd changed the white shirt and black bow tie for a black shirt and white bow tie...thanks for posting these pictures...bringing back some great memories.

Here as I sit
At this empty cafe
Thinking of you
I remember
All those moments
Lost in wonder
That we´ll never
Find again
Though the world
Is my oyster
It´s only a shell
Full of memories
And here by the seine
Notre-dame casts
A long lonely shadow
Now - only sorrow
No tomorrow
There´s no today for us
Nothing is there
For us to share
But yesterday

These cities may change
But there always remains
My obsession
Through silken waters
My gondola glides
And the bridge - it sighs ...
I remember
All those moments
Lost in wonder
That we´ll never
Find again
There´s no more time for us
Nothing is there
For us to share
But yesterdays

Ecce momenta
Illa mirabilia
Quae captabit
In aeternum
Memor
Modo dolores
Sunt in dies
Non est reliquum
Vero tantum
Comminicamus
Perdita
Tous ces moments
Perdus dans l`enchantement
Qui ne reviendront
Jamais
Pas d´aujourd´hui pour nous
Pour nous il n´y a rien
A partager
Sauf le passé

AS a teenager I was enthralled by the decaying cities of Europe acting as a metaphor for a dying love affair...beautiful, fraught with memory, and doomed.

It still works.

Dixon. One suggestion you might want to think about: thumbnails. Otherwise cool.

If you dont like the Ramones, you don't like rock and roll. It's that simple.

A lot of this is really good stuff.. there are plenty of misses, but you can tell he is a music fan, not a mercenary. If you ever want an example of passionless, descriptive photography, look no further than pollstar, etc...It looks to me as if most of these were taken from the audience, no special access.. If I could travel back in time and give him photo passes to these shows, I would.

It'd be nice to buy one of these.

Pffft. Not at all.

Of course it depends on what you mean by rock and roll. My rock and roll doesn't depend on orthodoxy or dogma or encyclicals on which bands to like and which not.

I write, of course, with full confidence that jonmc will never see this comment. But if you do, jon, no harm meant and I hope no offense taken. :)

Aha!Caught you.

Of course it depends on what you mean by rock and roll.

What I meant is that the Ramones, to me at least, are rock and roll distilled to it's purest. Loud, uptempo, catchy two minute songs about gleefully inane subjects sung by four delinquent glue-sniffers in leather jackets. That's about as rock and roll as it gets.

Aha! back atcha.

My rock and roll includes loud, uptempo, catchy two minute songs about Smashing the State sung by art school dropouts, which is why I think that The Clash were the greatest live act ever, and tend to feel a bit heretical about the Ramones.
