Don't Eat (or Drink) The Yellow Snow!
note: it is our surmise that that this snow is probably not toxic. trust us. we're russia.

Surely this is pollution from China.

Oh I see, so because of incompetant safety practices 20 years ago, somehow now that means that this is actually a coverup for extreme pollution or some other kind of toxic fallout, and not just high amounts of iron due to some sand storms?

China was environmentally incompetent just once twenty years ago? I forget they cleaned up so much. ;)
OTOH, oxidized iron seems much more likely--but no industrial cause? Fo sho?

perhaps i should add a "unserious" tag to make it clear that the insinuation, such as it is, is meant to be taken tongue-in-cheek.

In italy every now and then we get yellowed rain, which is just dust from Sahara reaching over the mediterranean. The sky can become pretty red.

Whereupon I proceeded to take that mitten full
Of the deadly Yellow Snow Crystals
And rub it all into his beady little eyes
With a vigorous circular motion
Hitherto unknown to the people on this area,
But destined to take the place of THE MUD SHARK
In your mythology
Here it goes now . . .
THE CIRCULAR MOTION . . . (rub it) . . .

Jean Grey: Isn't the snow beautiful, Ororo?
Storm: In it's way, Jean...But I can't help remembering that on the slopes of Kilimanjaro, the snow is...white.

meh, i've seen oranger....thanks though...so maybe it's true...i tend to be skeptical of russian news in general...the story on the colored snow with a picture of an aurora just set off my BS alarm...
also...I used to live in new york...I have seen/smelled/run screaming from snow that was at least 10 times oranger/smellier/more toxic/black/crawling with maggots/lumpy with turds and vomit/smoking (and NO, not steaming, SMOKING)/scarier/pointy with syringes/etc. orange? stinky? poor babies.
