my god did that song in the second youtube link make it damn near unwatchable.

Good story, though. I've enjoyed everything of Paul Auster's I've read.

that scene is amazing, IIRC harvey keitel delivers that whole story in one take, with the camera on his face the whole time.

wow, only two comments? My old roomate used to baby-sit for Peter Carey's kids, and would tell me of the wonderful nights when Paul Auster came over for dinner, and the talks that would ensue, and tell me how much I would have loved to have been there.

Years later, when I was in france studying the language, instead of reading the works of native speakers I spent my summer reading everything by Paul Auster, translated into french.
