Santa's Ghetto: Stirring art from behind the Jerusalem Wall.
Wow.
Thanks for that.
It looks like the Maggi are having a hard time crossing the wall to get to the manger. At least the wall has something to say about that.

All great art comes from pain.

Very nice.
I had a graphic design project earlier this year that dealt with the wall. The thought, creativity and brilliance I see here puts my weak-ass brochure to shame.

Some powerful art here. I really can't pick a favorite, so much is excellent.
By the way, the main page has a "closed" notice on it, but links in above comments will still get you there.

I know a bunch of artists recently went over there to do art on the wall on a project headed by Banksky. Is this that?

Yep, Banksy and the group that calls themself "Banksy" was in on this. Why the site's currently saying "Closed" I'm not sure. I'm trying to find an alternative means for viewing, as this was some powerful stuff. Hope they come back soon.

As it turns out, National Public Radio did a story about Santa's Ghetto at some point yesterday. You can read a little bit about it and see some of the art here.

Santa's Ghetto opens online and as a 'gallery' in Central London (usually Soho) every year from 1 - 24 December. I've picked up some great Christmas presents in there in the past! Personally, I'm into the stupid David Shrigley stuff.

If anyone is interested, I just got back from the West Bank over Christmas and was able to check out Santa's Ghetto in person. There's a slide show and panorama at the end of this series of posts.

We had a great guide, Mahmoud from West Bank Tours who also does good work for a children's organization called Project Hope as well as the Palestinian Circus, As-Sirk As-Saghir. I only mention this in case anyone wants to visit the West Bank and see for themselves what is going on. Mahmoud is devoted to helping the youth in Palestine channel their energy in positive ways and showing tourists the real Palestine beyond the hype and the headlines.
