The Dream Machine

The Dream Machine is a flash point and click adventure game done entirely in claymation. A beta for chapter 1 is available if you sign up with an email address and password, a demo is available without signing up. (via JiG)

caveats:
1) hides your mouse pointer during intro sequence. click anywhere to skip the intro.
2) chapter 1 beta ends on a "to be continued"

Not the first game of its type. (A shining moment from that game.)

Yeah, it's not even the first flash one (although I can't recall the link for the other one I've seen), but the level of polish is still pretty impressive.

JHarris, I immediately thought of the Neverhood. That game is one of the scariest and most inspiring experiences of my childhood. If The Dream Machine is remotely similar, I'm going to love it. Playing the demo now...

Other claymation games: Platypus and the forthcoming Cletus Clay.

The demo doesn't seem to be loading for me after the intro. The progress bar just sits there.

I'm pretty sure that The Dream Machine isn't claymation; I would call it stop-motion animation in the style of the Brothers Quay or Jan Svankmejer. this is quibbling over details, though. I found it last week and I am so in love with it. it's beautifully done and I can't wait for the complete game.

I also thought of the Neverhood as well. The demo's gorgeous although I was annoyed I couldn't whack the shovel with the fish.

nthing the amazingness of the Neverhood, even if I could never finish the damn thing. Hmph, I suppose I could prolly run it inside my VMWare Windows install, if I wanted to take a crack at it tooday. Dude that was the driving force was doing comics a few years back. Whaddya know, he's at Comicon.

The visual style of the game kind of reminds me of The Dark Eye, which I remember as totally awesome.
